Jalet worked with revered visual artist Jim Hodges to create YAMA. Inspired by the mythology associated with mountains and blurring the thin human boundaries with the vegetal and animal world, and exploring man’s vital need to rise, YAMA is a mysterious and visceral metaphor of a collective ascent.

A unique theatrical playroom, Innocence is for nought-to-seven-year-olds (and their adults), to explore the world of William Blake’s childhood in which children are invited to dance, play and sing, on a magical theatrical journey shared with Scottish Dance Theatre’s dancers. A captivating experience performed to a breathtaking musical score.

By Fleur Darkin. Max capacity 80.

Winter, Again

  • Duration:
  • People on road: 13
  • Freight: No freight necessary

Radical Norwegian choreographer Jo Strømgren mixes beautifully poised dance with all means necessary to tell the story of a community struggling to hide their dark misdemeanours under winter’s snowy blanket. Punctuated with songs of Schubert’s Eine Winterreise, this is a journey through the cycle of the coldest, darkest season.

Wraparound work

Scottish Dance Theatre started life as a community dance initiative and its foundations give the company a unique identity as a rep company, using creative processes to generate education that is innovative and ground-breaking. The company pioneers education projects that accompany the performance work. Projects take on many shapes: residencies, workshops, lectures, interactive demonstrations and classes. Sessions are bespoke to the partners with which the company is working, engaging with as wide a demographic as possible from professional artists to traditionally excluded members of society.
