This list is comprised of the festivals we recommend to international colleagues which showcase the best of UK theatre and dance talent.

Throughout 2013 a number of exciting and innovative arts festivals have been taking place up and down the UK. Our latest Twitter list offers a snapshot of festivals running throughout the year which feature the best of the UK’s performing arts sector. We recommend these festivals to our international colleagues, and they enable artists and companies to introduce their work to visitors from both home and abroad.

– Latitude in Suffolk (18-21 July) boasts an impressive line up from the worlds of music, theatre, dance, film and poetry. There’s sure to be something for everyone.

– Further north, in Manchester, 24:7 Theatre Festival (19-26 July) is an annual festival of new writing for theatre, nurturing the talent of tomorrow.

– Glasgow’s the Merchant City Festival (24-28 July) presents a vast arts programme throughout the city including street arts, comedy, literature, and fashion and design.

– August’s biggest festival is undoubtedly Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2-26 August), the world’s largest fringe performing arts festival, with 2,871 shows being performed over the month by artists from across the globe. Not to be missed are the leading theatre and dance companies selected to be part of the British Council Edinburgh Showcase (19-24 August).

– The National Eisteddfodd of Wales (2-10 August), the pinnacle of the Welsh culture calendar, celebrating Wales, its culture and its language.

– Beyond the summer, MintFest (30 August- 1 September), one of the leading outdoor festivals, showcases over 50 outdoor artists and companies

– Belfast Festival (17-27 October) brings international attention to art and artists throughout the city.
