Artist of the City

Tim, perhaps best known as Artistic Director of Forced Entertainment, the iconic Sheffield-based performance company now celebrating its thirthieth year, follows the 2012 Artist of the City, Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.

British Council Portugal is the digital partner of the 2014 edition. It has developed a website documenting Tim’s year in the city, and throughout the year it will commission new essays and articles from Tim and from local artists and curators. The first of four think-pieces by Tim can be read here. One of these pieces will include Tim’s thoughts on 8-10 UK artists who are just starting to receive international recognition.

This Artist of the City INBOX will host live-streams of key performance pieces, and also link to Lisbon by Sound, a series of downloadable sound works developed by Tim in collaboration with four local artists in a project produced by the international Alkantara festival.
