A UK wide showcase of Indonesian performing arts
Discover Indonesia is a UK wide showcase of Indonesian performing arts which will introduce the best of Indonesian music, dance and theatre to UK audiences. It will run from 15 August to 15 September across the UK, including the Southbank Centre; various venues in Glasgow, presented by Cryptic; and the Wales Millennium Centre.
Presented in association with the British Council and the Indonesian Government, the tour is the result of long-term engagement between UK performing arts venues and the Indonesian performing arts sector. Discover Indonesia will highlight the strength and quality of Indonesian’s arts and creative sector and provide opportunities in each city for future collaborations between Indonesian and UK performing artists. The tour will mark the beginning of a major season of work in the region and UK which will highlight the strength of Indonesia’s developing arts and creative sector.
The Discover Indonesia tour kicked off at C-Venue, as part of the Edinburgh Fringe from 15 – 30 August, with shows from Kande, a music group, and Papermoon Puppet Theatre. Kande won a Herald Angel Award for excellence at the Edinburgh Fringe for its show Aceh Meukondroe. Discover Indonesia will tour to:

The Discover Indonesia tour is a partnership between Southbank Centre, Wales Millennium Centre and Cryptic. It is presented in association with the British Council and supported by Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, Ministry of Culture and Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Aceh Province Board of Culture and Tourism, Indonesian Embassy for the UK and British Embassy for Indonesia.
